I enjoy working short-term with clients on their goals. Transactional Analysis is a good method to use when working short term. We identify your goals, with an agreed contract. We then explore your past (distant, mid & recent) to determine how patterns and decisions in your life have lead you to where you are now. Short-term counselling can be very effective to identify troubling patterns in the here-and-now and empower you to make changes.
I mostly work with long-term clients on more deeply held beliefs and patterns. Psychotherapy clients have said that talking to someone objective, outside of their daily lives, is helpful. Others have said just talking is helpful and they feel the benefits of having a place to express thoughts and feelings they may not feel comfortable expressing elsewhere.
